Welcome to Cycling City York

Welcome to the Cycling City York website; your guide to everything cycling-related in York. Whether you're completely new to cycling, or someone who's been cycling for years, you're sure to find plenty of useful advice and ideas.

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR CYCLING FRIENDS!

RIDE ON - Whilst the weather is certainly chilly at this time of year, it's still a great time for cycling. A good, long ride in the fresh air will not only make you feel healthy and virtuous for the New Year, particularly after indulgent festive feasts, but it's also a fantastic way of making new friends. Why not join in on one of our popular guided cycle rides and make regular cycling one of your New Year's resolutions for 2012? Download our latest now from Led group rides

LIGHT UP - Be bright, use lights at night! With darker days and nights ahead of us for a good while yet, make sure you can see - and be seen - easily when you cycle around York! Dig out your lights, put in some new batteries and get them on your bike! It's also a good idea to wear reflective or light coloured clothing if you can, such as a hi-vis jacket or reflective cycle slap wraps. For more information on cycling in Winter see Lights and Road safety

North Yorkshire Police are running their Operation Image initiative throughout the winter in a bid to improve safety for cyclists and other road users by tackling cyclists who don't use lights, fail to comply with traffic signals, or cycle on the footpath.
