Led group rides
Haven't cycled in a while? Why not join in on one of these short, guided rides and explore some great cycle routes around the city? Guided rides are a fun, safe and sociable way to discover York and its surrounding countryside on two wheels. Rides vary in length and last from 30 minutes up to two hours and cater for a range of abilities and confidence levels. All rides are led by trained volunteer leaders who will supervise and guide the group.
Rides depart from various locations around York, such as Energise (formerly Oaklands Sports Centre), Clifton Bridge, Millennium Bridge, Osbaldwick, the University of York and Tower Gardens and ride to places of interest.
Our 'Pedal to the Past' series of rides is a great way to take a fresh and healthy look at some of York's historic sites. Join our resident history enthusiasts for a mystery history tour. See our guided rides timetable for details of dates and times.
For more information about all our guided cycle rides, download the Autumn & Winter timetable for October to December 2011 below, or contact Fiona Barker on (01904) 553440 or fiona.barker@york.gov.uk.
Leisure rides
Cycling City York has commissioned a series of leisure route maps featuring handwritten notes about facilities and places of interest along the way, which have been devised, designed and tested out by a team of local volunteers.
