'Bike Club' grants
'Bike Club' grants of up to £2,000 are now available to local community groups, schools and youth clubs in the York area. The grants can be used to fund a wide range of cycling-relating activities for young people aged around 10 - 20.
As part of the Cycling City project, York has recently secured its own Bike Club officer, Andrew Thorp. Andrew can help organisations apply for grants and set up Bike Clubs, and assist them in kick starting cycling activities in their area.
Application forms and more information about Bike Club grants can be found at www.bikeclub.org.uk/resources. For an informal chat about Bike Club, contact Andrew Thorp on 07825 854731.
Bike Club is a national, joint initiative led by ContinYou, UK Youth and CTC (the national cyclists' organisation). It aims to encourage young people to use cycling as a means of transport; make cycling an important part of young people's lives; and help children and young people to discover the freedom that cycling brings.
