Routes

Whether you are cycling to work, school, or just for leisure, getting around York by bike is easy. Our extensive network of off-road cycle paths and on-road cycle lanes offers safe access into and around the city.
Cycling is fast too and is proven to be one of the quickest modes of transport for short urban trips. At a typical commuter cycling pace of around 10mph or more (covering a mile in 6 minutes) you could get all the way from the outer ring road to the city centre in only 18 minutes!
Cycling at a more leisurely pace, or cycling with younger children, means you'll still get around at an average of about 6mph (covering a mile in 10 minutes) which is very handy.
